What is a Personal Account?
A Personal Account is an account that belongs to only one person. If you purchased a single-user account then this already has the same access as a personal account and you don't need to do anything else. If you (or your school) purchased a multi-user account then your staff and students can set up their own free personal accounts. Personal accounts set up from a parent Multi-User account are tied to that parent account - i.e. when the parent account expires then so will the personal accounts attached to it - renewing the parent account re-enables the associated personal accounts. There are two types of personal account: Student and Teacher - the type that will be set up depends on the way you initially logged in - i.e. if you log in using the main Multi-User account Teacher password and then set up a personal account, a teacher account is created; alternatively, if you log in using the main Multi-User Student account password and create a personal account, a student account is created.
Please note that the number of personal accounts that can be created per Multi-User account is limited to the number of accounts purchased (unless an unlimited account was purchased) - i.e. if you purchased a 20-user account then a maximum of 20 personal accounts can be set up. Please contact Chartwell Yorke directly if you need to increase the number of user licences for your school.
How do I set up a Personal Account?
- Log in using the main teacher/student account user name and password as normal.
- Click on your school name towards the top right of the screen - this will display your user information page.
- Click on the "Create Personal Account" button.
- Choose your username
- Choose your password. Here a display will give a measure of the strength of your password and will also check for the 500 most common passwords and flag them up as "bad / common". Good passwords are those that include both upper and lower case letters as well as numbers - to get a "Very Strong" level the password also needs to include non-alphanumeric characters.
- Complete the remainder of your details
- If you are a teacher then you should also create some class names at this point.
- If you are a student you will only be able to complete this process if a class name is available to select. If none is available you will have to contact a teacher first to get this done.
- Click the Save button to create the account - please see the information above about which type of Personal Account (Student or Teacher) is created at this point.
- Once your details have been accepted, log off and then log in again using this new username and password.
