FORMULAE
All Intermediate examinations include a formulae sheet. It has just two formulae: the area of a trapezium and the volume of a prism.
Area of a trapezium = \frac{1}{2}(a+b)h
a and b are
the parallel sides and h is the distance between them
(or perpendicular height of the trapezium). For example, if a = 3cm, b = 7cm
and h = 12cm, then Area = \frac{1}{2}(3+7) \times 12 =
\frac{1}{2}10 \times 12 = 60 \, cm
Volume of prism =
(area of cross-section) × length
There are various types of prisms:
The cross-section is the
"end" of the prism, the face shaded darker than the rest in most of the above
diagrams. In the case of the cylinder, the cross-section is the circular
end. |
